Long term planning

Our house is down in a little hollow. We had this staircase built to replace a rough and slippery path from our small front gate down to the house. We decided that if we wanted to live here for a long time we needed to allow for the fact that sooner or later the slippery path would become a danger to us. At the time we also had a lovely elderly neighbour across the road who used to love to pop in. We were always terrified that Ros would come to grief on the old path. As I strolled around the garden this afternoon I thought how much I like our little staircase and picket gate at the top of it.
