Belated Birthday

My uncle Will and his wife Karen took Melanie and I out for dinner at The Fig and Olive in the meat packing District in Lower manhattan. The place was stunningly gorgeous, and sophisticated. The food definitely lived up to the luxury of the restaurant. It was a really nice night and we laughed so much. The waitress brought over a dessert with a candle in it and everyone wished me a happy birthday. Except the dessert was chocolate, and I can't have chocolate. The waitress was so embarrassed that for my second dessert (one I could actually eat), Mango Sorbet with merengue and maple syrup topping, she put in a small candle and everyone wished me happy birthday again. I haven't had that much fun in a whole. It's been a lot of stress between school and work so this was a pleasant break.
