Operation Market Garden World War II
On September 17, 1944, the Graafse bridge casemates and with it the road bridge over the Maas were captured by 15 men led by Lieutenant John Samuel Thompson. Shortly afterwards, the bridge in Nijmegen was captured from the direction of Groesbeek. So a very important action.
