The Quintinshill Rail Disaster
I noticed this plaque in Larbert Station this morning. The only reason I was there was because my train was cancelled (discovered via iPhone!) and I thought I'd try the Dunblane train and change back at Larbert.
I checked the history out on my iPhone wikipanion, and it turns out that this was by far the worst rail disaster ever to happen in the UK (in terms of fatalities). It is not well known because most of the victims were soldiers and it happened during the 1st World War when all news was subject to censorship.
