And these are only the ones I got pictures of!

Finally got out to take pictures for picture taking sake...and saw a bunch of great wildlife. I don’t have pics of of the belted kingfisher, Cooper’s hawk, etc, but I do have these:

Top left and top middle - we’ve recently noticed the arrival of white pelicans in the area. I got a bit too close for his comfort and he took off. I was pleased to get the In-flight shot. I have seen several of them flying together in flocks and they are beautiful.

Top right: loggerhead shrike.

Middle left… For the past few weeks we had noticed a pair of sandhill cranes near the preserve. That was unusual. Today I noticed this one sitting on a nest out in the marshy area. This led to a Google search that taught me that this is where they nest… Wicked cool!

Middle and middle right – a tri-colored heron busily hunting for dinner.

Bottom and middle left – too far away in a little bit blurry but you can’t resist the eaglet in the nest... in the bottom middle one, you can actually make out eyes and a beak looking at you.

Bottom right – just a plain old cattail beautiful in the afternoon sunlight.
