Sleeping Gunnera

Gunnera in hibernation in the Castle woodland. It looks like giant rhubarb when in bloom. Native to Argentina it regenerates every year. Gunnera was banned in New Zealand and Ireland at one stage as they are so invasive. The chopped leaves help to protect the roots from frost.
