THE MEMORIAL SPITFIRE
I was running out of inspiration for a blip this morning so, after lunch, I headed along to the Memorial Spitfire for a step back in time. This is a replica of Mk.1 X4859, the 1356th Spitfire built at the Vickers-Supermarine factory in Eastleigh. The plane flew into Grangemouth on 15th September 1941. Unfortunately, just over 2 months later X4859 crashed over Avondale Estate, Polmont, killing Sergeant Eugeniusz Lukomski.
