Hard overnight frost...

turned the snow to an ice rink, particularly where it had started to thaw yesterday. Had to be careful when walking, but walking in deeper parts helped and it softened a little as the sun melted the worst ice. A lovely day with sun and blue skies. 
The birds were singing loudly. There was an incident at the squirrel feeder. I was watching one feeding happily when it suddenly leapt a foot into the air then made a further sideways leap into the Birch . At that point, the Sparrowhawk glided across the feeder and garden before disappearing over the house!!! Can't imagine it would tackle a squirrel, but it certainly scared him!
