Beautiful Day

It was a blue sky day here on the west coast of Wales.   Cold but perfect.   Sadly circumstances meant I didn't get out to walk in the hills as I would have chosen but the sunshine sure lifts the spirit.    I brought this crocus into the warmth of the back porch where the flower opened beautifully.   The label says Crocus veluchensis but I think it's most likely Crocus sublimis.   The two species have overlapping distributions in the wild and natural hybrids do occur so who knows!    I raised it from my own seed in 2006, the original collection dating back well over twenty years.

I'm doing some decorating indoors, behind the scenes at work so at least I got some exercise sanding and washing down .... but not as much fun as hiking in the hills!   Jamie and Tim shopped, exercised Meg and baked :-)
