Snoozing Stock Doves
I had a very local walk to the grounds of Thorpe Hall today, where there are a good number of mature trees including both native and introduced species. The trees are sensitively managed, and support a significant number of Stock Doves, which nest in tree holes.
Large pieces of fallen timber are left in situ - a mature horse-chestnut that was damaged in one of the 2020 gales is now sporting a fine display of Silverleaf Fungus, with its strange purplish colour, as well as the less dramatic Tear Dropper fungus.
Back to work today, dealing with a flurry of emails that arrived yesterday, after the Christmas break, and working on my accounts, which, as usual, are long overdue. So glad I have a very understanding accountant...
