Shard - a retrospective

Another cold day so decided to hibernate given the state of the virus in London.

Having been prompted yesterday about some historical facts related to the Shard I went and looked for a couple of images from my archives.

Construction started in 2009 and was completed in 2012 just before the Olympic Games.

My Blip was taken in June 2011 on my return from Milan to London City Airport. I had been commuting between London and Milan for over a year and had been trying to get a decent image of the Shard every time I arrived. The aircraft needed to be flying in from the west and ideally you needed to be in seat F towards one of the back rows. On this occasion I hit the jackpot.
