Slowly

The first of several different forms of Iris reticulata, this dark purple flower has been slowly unfurling for a few days.   With milder weather coming after the weekend there will be a few more of the early spring flowers to enjoy in the next few weeks.   This iris I raised from seed a few years ago, seed which came from Canadian iris guru Alan McMurtrie.   Take a look at his website where some of the gems that may be heading for commercial production can be seen.   They make my offering look dull by comparison!

On another cold day, after an undisturbed eight hours sleep, we were out for Jamie's blood test before midday and then distributed some of his baking surplus to friends and family locally.   An afternoon of shopping, work and dog walking kept me busy and now Jamie is back in the kitchen, on a mission once again :-)
