Epiphany
I am starting to type this whilst watching live coverage from Washington DC on CNN where Trump supporters have breached the US Capitol whilst the current Vice President is doing a routine constitutional job of announcing the results of the electoral college election. Most people would never even know of this formality, but with this election, everything is different. I've never learnt so much about American procedures as I have in the last few weeks!
American politics aside, today has been quite eventful. G had another short day so I suggested we call into a smaller Carrefour to get the few things we needed. This would be at Wafi Mall.
I parked up and because there was a bit of time, suggested to go into the lobby of the newly opened Obelisk building, home to the Sofitel Hotel. Well. What a place. The Egyptian theme of the Mall continues in this brand new building/hotel. G made up a story that we were having a look around for friends who were hoping to visit, so we got a bit of a tour!! Two studio apartments, the pool, the gym, the spa, Zen garden and the French restaurant! We'd checked out the British Gastro Pub before that. AND for the first time in months, we had the pleasure of having Arabic coffee and dates in the lobby... a symbol of local hospitality which had to be withdrawn when Coronavirus broke out.
My blip is the view looking South. The windows for the view looking North were too dusty to post the pictures I took. The extra sums up the rest.
It is Epiphany today so I guess we need to seriously think about taking down the Christmas decorations. *Sigh*
