Fountains Abbey

This is the classic view of Fountains Abbey which has probably been photographed a million times already.
The lighting conditions were a little challenging as it was late afternoon, but I managed to achieve a dark and foreboding look in this one.

In the first extra is a shot of nearby Fountains Hall taken slightly earlier before the sun receded. The second extra is an internal shot of the ruins.

We booked a timeslot for today's visit yesterday. Then yesterday evening, England was put into lockdown again and we were not sure whether we could visit. I checked and the abbey would still be open for visitors today, although I was told they were reviewing the situation.
I wouldn't wish to contravene the lockdown advice!
Having said that, it was very quiet there.
