No Ball Games
A pretty grim day, with sleet showers. However, I was happy watching the weather through my window, and noticing the cloud cover come and go over the fell tops. I have been busy trying to sort out my family research files. It is a long job as there is an accumulation of years of research. A long way to go, but I'm getting there.
And I have had a few breaks to sit with a jigsaw. This one has to be one of the very best jigsaws I have done. I love it so much that I don't really want to finish it. It is perfect - clear colours, no big areas of one colour, no shadows where the pieces all look the same, more challenging than it looks - and it is a delightful, quirky picture, full of charming detail. And the artist has even put herself in the picture - see thumbnail.
I looked up the artist - Ailsa Black, who is a Scottish artist and designer. Sadly this was her first and, at the moment, only jigsaw, as I was of course going to look for another one. Surely Ravensburger will commission another one - I must write and suggest this.
It turns out that I was lucky to get hold of this a few weeks ago, as it is now sold out everywhere. Perhaps I managed to order it before The Independent chose it as one of their one best nine jigsaws for the Lockdown (the second one!). Of course in looking at their list, I found their best one and had to order it . . .
