New collar
This morning R the computer man came to set up my new desk top computer and to transfer all the data and software from the old system to the new one. The new computer is a custom built one and replaces my previous custom built system that I have had for about 8 or 9 years, which is pretty old in IT years. It was delivered before Christmas and has been sitting on the floor of my study - I know nothing about IT so I was not at all tempted to try and install it myself, I was quite happy to wait for R to come and do it. It is taking over 24 hours to download all the data and software - yes I have a lot of stuff on there, I keep all my photos on there and don't take off the old ones onto another portable drive but have a system of RAID drives so I can access all my photos from one place every easily. He is coming back tomorrow to check on it.
Gavin walked Xena for me as I had to be on hand for any questions or passwords to be typed in. I made some soup for lunch, and as soon as R left I went to Waitrose to get groceries. It was another large trolley load, as although Adam has gone back to Cambridge I still have Luke and Tommy home.
The weather was miserable again, raining, cold and grey so it had to be another indoor blip. Xena was sitting over the back of the armchair looking out the window when I took this photo of her - she is rocking the look with her new collar that she got for Christmas!
Tonight I have a zoom camera club meeting, it is another PDI competition. At the moment I am leading the leaderboard for the intermediate category, but that is very likely to change. Competitions are a good way to improve your photography, especially the technical aspects, as you learn to watch out for imperfections.
Tonight the Prime Minister is making an announcement - I suspect the entire country will go into a Tier 4 lockdown as having different tiers is just not working and the virus is not being controlled. Today the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine was administered to the first person.
