Long standing .....

I went for a walk in the Black Spout Wood following the First Minister's announcement that from midnight tonight we would once again be in lockdown until at least the end of the month.   It is a tough decision but the right one - as she said we are in race between the virus and the vaccine.  

Many of the trees in the wood are old and some over a 100 years -  they have stood as previous generations went through the first and second world wars, the flu pandemic in 1918 and subsequent one and many will still be standing once this crisis is over.  

There was also hope in the FM's announcement in that if the vaccination roll out goes to plan then everyone in a priority group should have received at least the first dose by early May.
