one day in France

R.I.P. Grey Hen and Milou too.

Grey hen is one of my favourites due to her lovely grey legs, so I was surprised to see them sticking up in the air this morning when I casually looked out of the window while chatting on the phone!
Mr F went out to investigate and found -look away now if you're squeamish or eating your dinner- that she'd had a massive prolapse, all her insides were spread over the lawn, and the other hens were pecking at her intestines as they did look a bit like worms! Luckily grey hen was quite dead, as I don't suppose she would have been happy with that.
The photo was taken yesterday when grey hen was quite well and happy.
Now there are ten.
p.s. And even more sad news this evening, is that my friend's dog Milou (who I've just put in extras) also died today. This was him this morning after he'd been digging in the mud with his nose. I was going to Blip him but then the hen died. Milou was 13 and ill with Cushings disease, but he'd had a very pampered life with my friend who took him in a year ago when his previous owner died.
Sorry for all the doom and gloom today.
