School Knott
With the children dropped back with their mother, I met up with Simmo for our first walk of this year.
We headed up a very frozen School Knott and looked back over Windermere to The Langdales and various other Pikes and Hills whose names I know, but who I am unable to identify. It was a lovely stroll that also took in a couple of well-frozen tarns.
I enjoyed the walk so much that when I got home, I scoffed some toast and headed out again for another walk along the river.
It was also time for the Christmas tree and associated decorations to come down, but having done that and found that I still had some energy to burn, I put it into a run and for the first time ever ran the full 5k non-stop ie. with no walking breaks. I felt strong physically, which is new to me!
Cast Away was on TV this evening. While I find it apt for many reasons, the main one is that it is the first film I watched after Carmen had been born. It was on when I returned home from hospital that night (mother and baby had to stay in for a little while) and I remember thinking to myself even then, enjoy the quiet, because it may be some time before you get it again!
It’s a great film though and a testament to Tom Hanks that he can hold the screen by himself (albeit with a volleyball for company) for the majority of the running time.
The crossroads at the close of the film may be a little on-the-nose for some, but I’m sure we’ve all been there at some point in our lives.
P.S. Thanks to those who starred and favourited my 31 December blip - it’s gone onto the “popular” blip tab, which is also new to me!
