Ringing in the New Year

We had tentative plans with four of our friends, at the home of one of them,  to get together New Years eve evening outdoors for some dessert and a drink, but it rained and so it was postponed until this afternoon.  Things were set up beautifully with 5 separate tables, patio heaters next to each one and each socially distanced from the others.  We all remained masked except to have a drink and while eating the desserts.  It was so nice to see each other in person...well,.... it almost felt normal.

We all started to leave just before sunset, and this is what we saw in the sky.  This is just an iPhone shot, but you will get the idea.
