New Year

It was mild and sunny all day and so clear that Skyros island was clearly visible from Zarka beach, where I had a quite long swim at midday with two swimming friends (we went all the way round the breakwater).
The morning had been fraught with worry over Mum, who had another bad fall in the night and was eventually rescued and taken to hospital. Several hours went by with no response from her after her alarm was activated until the ambulance arrived, so we feared the worst. After several more hours, word came from the hospital that there is no serious injury. Mum will be transferred to a small cottage hospital asap because of the Covid risk at the main hospital.
In the afternoon we had an early dinner at a friend's house (limited social gatherings at home are allowed for 2 days over New Year). It was a very enjoyable evening but of course we had to rush off at 21.45 to get home before the curfew.
