Ice Age

Brutally cold here overnight, minus 10 reported in local areas and hasn't lifted all day.

Our great start to the new year got off to a brutal start,  we got home from dinner at Lady V's folks last night to find the utility, WC, kitchen & diner flooded. We had a washing machine fuck up malfunction which has pumped waste water out into the utility which has then flowed through to the other areas. A lesson learned on leaving machines running whilst out, not that I would have been aware anyway!

We spent three hours on mop up duties with three rugs saturated and laminate flooring throughout now 'gubbed', (we hated it anyway!) some of the door frames have also swollen and we have damage to base units, end panels and kick plates.

On a brighter note we did have a chuckle about my plumbing abilities but alas all was good on the floor above. We all agreed it wasn't ideal but we didn't like the flooring anyhow so looks like we have another project on our hands. 

I've been diligent this morning and we either have a faulty drain valve vent on our waste pipe or there is an intermittent block further down the waste outlet causing back up below ground level. I'll arrange for an inspection from a drainage company on Monday before contacting my Insurance.

An inconvenenience we could do without but as we said to each other last night 'No one has died'. On a brighter note I watched my team steal three points from the mighty Sellick :)
