Fallen Ash

One third of a huge old tree came down in recent storms. It broke right from the foot across a footpath and into the concrete and steel barrier.

Sadly the tree may have been weakened by the ash die-back virus which has decimated the English ash population and marked many ash trees for removal in the public park right outside my house.

A reminder that in the final instance, nature is always stronger human impositions on landscape.
