Wind blown fir cone

Took a walk this afternoon with son Chris, hubby and Meg along the cycle path 'Route 27' which has recently been extended to incorporate the tunnel at Grenofen and The Gem Bridge over the River Walkham, they have really worked hard on this track and there are a loads of new trees which have been planted over the last couple of weeks - once they grow they will fill in any gaps that were made when they excavated the old tunnel and old railway line.

Although we haven't had the snow of our northern neighbours we have had some intense windy storms and one of these had brought down a branch from a fir tree scattering all these fir cones.

I'm learning how to use the macro setting on my Nikon Coolpix (not very successful with the icicles near the tunnel that I took) but this fir cone seems to have come out okay.
