Tree Preservation Order

Ash on the left, swamp cypress centre, fastigiate hornbeams behind.

Happy New Year everyone, and here is a rant. This is a view of part of the former pitch and putt golf site in Upminster which the Council has sold to a developer to build homes on. I regret that it was rarely open for golf and that I never had a chance to walk in and see the trees. All photos have been taken over a wire fence.

In November someone put a TPO on most of the trees, 32 individual trees and seven tree groups. The Council allowed us to write in support of this TPO until 31.12.20 at the latest, although it won't be decided for six months. I suppose this short notice prevented a lot of people writing in. Looking at the TPO I at last saw details of all the trees. My favourites are the fastigiate hornbeams with their broad spade-like shape.
This place should have been a park for everyone to enjoy, rather than a pitch and putt course they could not finance the operation of.
