The year in question
As wet snow falls into the dark night I’ve been looking back through my timeline for the year. Remembering our friend Silverio who died from Covid-19 on March 5th. His death made the news in far off New Zealand. I was humbled to see my Blip in English in his memory had 592 views and the one in Italian had 281.
Then on April 8th Mum died. Cwsg mewyn Hedd, they say in Welsh. Sleep in peace.
We went into total lockdown on 10th March and for weeks watched the devastating Covid toll mount.
In August we snuck to the sea in masks for a few days when things were easier. But by late October Italy was under the kosh again.
Tom arrived on November 18th. Such a joy even if from a distance. And such a relief that Peg came though it all.
December 4th saw the new boiler installed and working.
Christmas was hard so far away from home.
And here we are at the end of the year. The transition period finished. The Brexit deal voted through in a day. Rain upon rain.
Terrible news from British hospitals.
The first fireworks are going off here in the slush in the valley after a day of near-freezing fog. A bit early but who cares.
Be safe.
Happy New Year.
