Waterworld
Our dog-walking area is massively reduced by the flooding. Today Juno and I braved the full length of the Devil’s backbone footpath although the stream was running over it in several places so I had her on the lead to make sure she didn’t get washed away.
We met Patricia who lost her mother just before Christmas and caught up in how our boys are managing over a socially distanced coffee on a bench. Too chilly to stay long though.
Back home the pain that has been lingering in the background for a day or so suddenly surged forward with a vengeance. I put off doctor’s visits to arrange more hospital tests when covid started. This is the first time the pain - which comes every few months - has made me throw up. Left flank, kidney stones perhaps although the last scan didn’t show any - but that was 18 months ago. Finally with hot water bottles, lots of liquids and painkillers, the pain dissipated, but I am a bit shocked at how quickly and strongly it came on. Time to follow up with the doctor again.
