What a cracker!
We decided to go for a drive out - Moray is quite a large county so we decided to head west to Burghead and work back along the coast home. Clear blue sky with a Baltic wind. Difficult to spot dolphins but chuffed to see a small group of eider ducks sheltering in the harbour. Then R said ‘what’s that?’ A little bird bobbing about having followed in a fishing boat - my instinct said pharalope although I’ve never actually seen one. It turned out to be a grey phalarope - usually found in the Arctic but should be in Africa so a bit off course. Lovely to spend some time watching it. Stopped at Lossiemouth to watch the sun going down before heading home. A good day out.
