I Spy Snowdrops

A fellow blipper said yesterday that their snowdrops had started to appear, so I went into the garden today to see if I could see mine and here they are. I bought just one pot of them when I went to see the glorious snowdrops at Walsingham Abbey last Jan, expecting to plant a few as bulbs. Instead I dug out most of what will be the wild garden and put in the pond, so I'll include more bulbs in the planting this year. A bit of sorting out and filing dvds today - so many people I'm in contact with are having a sort out, it must be the Tier 4 project of choice this winter.

Day 289 / Day 10 of the 4 Tiers (for my record only)
UK deaths up 414 to 71,567* (revised basis), with 53,135 new cases (a new record), 21,286 patients in hospital and 1,529 on ventilation (only data for England is being updated every day during the xmas/new year period) *prev numbers and totals have been adjusted. The UK is now a significant outlier in terms of new cases per day in Europe and globally if looked at per capita. Hospitals in England are now treating more COVID patients than during the 1st wave peak in April (the official numbers above re patients has not been updated since Xmas Eve but SKY news is reporting 21,787 COVID patients in Eng (up 1,361 in a day), with over 1,600 on ventilation). The Nightingale Hospital in Excel London has been put on standby. The NHS boss says 'we're back in the eye of the storm'. The 1st person to be vaccinated, Margaret Keenan, got her 2nd jab today. There are warnings by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine that the UK vaccination target needs to double to 2m a week (that and more has been obvious since it was announced). Argentina has started vaccinations using the Sputnik V vaccine. Despite all this bad news in the UK, Police still had to break up an illegal rave outside Cardiff on Sunday night and hundreds of vehicles turned up at Brecon Beacons including a minibus of mixed households from Cheltenham - it beggars belief!
