Winter cheer

Beautiful green lichen on the trunk of a silver bitch tree. Amidst these dull days there are still some wonderful colours in the winter landscape.

A cold day - 2 degrees - and raining on and off which made it feel extra chilly. One of those days when you could easily feel chilled right through.

I went to the allotment for an hour after lunch and put down some weed suppressing matting to form a path between some newly dug beds.

The evening was spent reading my new book - Hedgerow Apothecary. It’s a pleasing mix of recipes - for food, drink, balms, candles, remedies etc, and beautiful photographs of their hedgerow ingredients along with a note of their botanical history and folklore.
