Dalkeith water tower house

Had to go to neighbouring Dalkeith (4 miles away) to visit the Nationwide, which gave me the opportunity to blip the old Dalkeith Water Tower, which has been converted to a most unusual but fabulous looking house.

The original water tower was built on 1879 to store the town’s water supply, and the tank at the top of the tower could store 12,000 gallons of water.

While I was there the owner of the house came out, and he was charming and proceeded to tell me about the troubles he had with the council planning department, which thankfully he won.

I’m not often in Dalkeith, so it made a pleasant change, and also bumped into some old friends who I hadn’t seen for years, which was nice ... it’s a funny old world.

I hope you are having a good day.
