Today they had the final day of the Canterbury Athletics Championships here in Timaru. Perfect conditions for racing and some great efforts all round, I shot some good shots of the mens Long jump very interesting techniques some of these jumpers have. As I arrived Millie and her fanclub, Mum, Dad Grand Parents over from Wales and other friends from Wales her sister and very vocal cousin who sometimes embarrasses Millie (only because she excited for her) were on their way to get some nutritional supplies to supplement the meals she s recieves at the School Hostel as they are somewhat lacking in enough nutrition for the training and racing she does. She spoke with a specialist Nutrionist who just happened to work with some of the most elite athletes around and the All Blacks and is a Craighead Dioceson Scho0l Old Girl. While Millie was out ,I found out that she had qualified to be selected for the Canterbury Team to Represent Canterbury at the National Athletic Championships in Auckland, this is the result of winning the Canterbury U18 Womens 3000m Championships and bettering the qualifying standard. Today Millie ran in her second ever 1500m and was this exciting absolutely, you should have seen her coach running from the 1500 start to photograph the finish going arse over tit down the side of the bank Monopod and camera in the save position while burning the other arm on the dry grass. It was so dry it has become slippery, fantastic recovery and have the photos to prove it. Here is Millie winning the Womens u18 1500m at the Canterbury athletics Championships. Rosa Flanagan ran in the senior womens event and congratulated Millie after her race. Millie was so Chuffed because Rosa knew her name. Rosa recently represented New Zealand at the Youth Olympic Festival in Sydney.
