Fourth day of Christmas

Holy Innocents' . . . a rather controversial story that only appears in one Gospel. Herod was a nasty piece of work (by our standards). If there was a slaughter of male children under two years of age the numbers were small as this would have occurred only in the vicinity of Bethlehem. Certainly nowhere near the number of children starving, missing, abused, or killed in our own era.

I've hiked up there twice now.
