Hair ice
This morning I got embroiled in my family tree-ing but stirred myself to go out after lunch for a walk - it was another bright albeit extremely cold day.
We decided to explore the Black Spout Woods which were busy with other walkers including families which was nice to see. We stopped to have a couple of chats including one about the roosting behaviors of crows (there are a lot of them about and they move from fields to town and back again).
We then decided to come off the main paths and explore a section of the woods we hadn't been in (mainly because there is no path). The frost meant the ground was crunchy rather than squelchy and we came across quite a lot of hair ice - when I first saw it I thought it was a discarded tissue. It is actually a time of fungi which on grows on winter nights when it is humid and the temperature is just below zero.
A spot more family treeing now beckons which will be followed by some more episodes of Bridgerton which we started last night and rather enjoyed, a change from our usual fare.
