Yard Carousel

I took a wrong turn on a drive today and discovered a house with a bizarre yard display. Every tree had a carousel surrounding it, horses and their doll riders in eerie tableau. On the one hand, even if it's not my taste, I have to admire the effort that goes into such a display. On the other hand, this struck me as creepy and makes me want to scream in horror. Do people do this in countries other than the US?
