WIP Finale
Got all the battens I could find in the barn from trees I had had sawn up into planks, beams and battens a few years ago. We have used most of them for other projects so am left with the remains and will have to play around to get them done.
Had fixed the downward slope battens - not sure if you call them the battens or counter-battens, roofing is not my speciality. Then started to lay out the other ones that will hold the tiles but needed to place a few tiles to work out the correct spacing and tile overlap. At this point, I realised there was a fatal problem!
The roof is simply too flat for roof tiles or at least the ones we have. Was a bit baffled as the roofing specialist friends had looked at the project and agreed it would work. Surely they couldn't have overseen it. Kept trying different patterns hoping I had made an amateur mistake but nothing worked. I gave up and retreated to the PC to scour YouTube etc for help.
I didn't find any but confirmation that my tile type needs at least a 25° slope! Oh ..........s***
Meanwhile, in Ireland (extra photo), the family doing 1st Advent. The decorations are likely to increase in the next few weeks. But for Corona, we may have been reliving the spectacular Advent Christmas Market visit we had 3 years ago. Perhaps next year!
