Walking obediently

The army refers to this as ‘wide order’ as opposed to ‘close order’.

We are probably all so used to walking with these big gaps between us. Will we ever close rank again or will it be a gradual thing over months and years to come?

Boxing Day is normally a big Coekin family gathering. Not this year. So it was just us 6 and the newly weds in fields near them.
But Boxing Day also usually includes a muddy walk and soup. And leftovers in some form or other.

We managed that. The mud was so muddy we were almost swimming in it. The soup was butternut squash with chilli and creme fraiche (a new venture) and it was yum. I’d happily swim in that. And leftovers ... for the first time again, I chucked the turkey, bacon, sprouts and gravy in together and made a pie and that turned out yum too.

And we had two big family zoom get-togethers - my family at noon and Elbows family at 7.

So pretty good for a Boxing Day under so many restrictions of Tier 4. Thankful for all this.

And don’t ask why DougsJB is standing like he is in this photo. I guess he’d say he was stretching after his 24k run this morning but I think he’s really just giving me a better view of his new bobble hat.
