The Vallais is the Sunniest Place in Switzerland

This morning it was minus 10 degrees on the perfect cross country pistes between Evolène and Les Haudères, cold but beautiful skiing along this fast flowing river valley. My friends then took me up to the mayen (shepherd's hut) they look after. In the winter they sleep in a tiny room which has a wood burning stove and in the summer they sleep in the hay! It felt like a time warp up there, a lifestyle reminiscent of mountain people in Nepal or Tibet.

Home now, very tired, but content after a day of great company, views and exercise, how fortunate I feel. I shall catch up on comments tomorrow but meanwhile, THANKS TO ALL WHO SENT YESTERDAY'S BRIDGE TO THE SPOTLIGHT!
