There was a miraculous upturn in the weather so I pootled around Hannah’s estate. As housing estates go, it’s very aesthetically pleasing as the old Shelton Hospital in Shrewsbury has been incorporated into the new construction. Thank the bejesus that recognition of mental health issues has improved in recent decades. This place was known as a ‘Lunatic Asylum’ when it was opened.

I arrived at my parents’ place in the afternoon and got to wrapping Christmas presents that I’d had delivered there. Mum confirmed there was spare paper in the cupboard, and instructed me there should be ‘no rooting and tooting’ around other wrapped presents that I might stumble on.
