Out with the old, in with the new
Croydon's old and new council offices. The building on the left is soon to be derelict, joining many of the others around it.
Today I went to Croydon. It wasn't great weather. I found myself joining other people in picking the remaining bits from the carcass of HMV. Most people weren't buying. People are savvy these days as they have plenty of experience of insolvency closing down sales so they were waiting for the process to drop further. I'd imagine the more valuable stock will either be returned to suppliers or transferred to the remaining stores. I got a couple of CDs though (remember them)? Another nail in the coffin for high street stores. People mostly shop online or in supermarkets. I do both of these things more often than I shop on the high street.
I got a haircut too. My housemate told me I was looking "a bit overgrown" so I figured it was needed! I always feel awkward and like the hairdresser will judge me and my lack of hair styling knowledge and for not wearing make up or watching reality TV. This one was alright but I still felt a little awkward. She was blow drying my hair while trying to have a conversation with me and strangely enough couldn't hear me.
I got 2 pieces of post last week sent to me without adequate postage. One of them was slightly too thick so it cost me £1.09. The other it turns out had no postage whatsoever and cost me £1.69 to receive. I paid in case it was important. It turned out to be an alumni newsletter from a school I left 11 years ago. I had many traumatic experiences at that school which I think are at least partly responsible for my problems with anxiety and depression since then. Maybe they can pay for some therapy as well as the postage.
Watching Jurassic Park on TV. Didn't like the bit with the goat being eaten, poor goat. A couple of my daffodils are now open which is nice, some sunshine inside despite the cold and snow outside.
