Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
Karen pointed out that this song was particularly appropriate this year.
Half of my chosen family is Jewish so we had Chinese food and watched a movie. My selected tradition is to have a Yule Log - the cake, not the actual log.
My Christmas was similar to my Thanksgiving but substitute the Yule Log for the turducken. I had a lovely driveway/window conversation with one of my neighbors that I shared food with. At New Year's she'll bring me some hard cider and we'll celebrate socially distant/together.
The other neighbor was also home alone. She'd had plans to be with family but then learned her aunt had her kitchen redone and allowed the worker to be in her kitchen, for four days, without a mask. Wednesday they learned the worker has Covid. For safety's sake, they stayed apart today.
"Somedays soon we all will be together
If the fates allow
Until then we'll have tomorrows through somehow
So have yourself a merry little Christmas, now"
This is my tree topper. I like it because it is a clever but simple design, two pieces of flat wood that, put together, form a three-dimensional star.
Oh! And our pilot light went out. I remember this happening another on another holiday, possibly Thanksgiving last year. Fortunately, Karen has bought many electric heaters - in case the heat ever goes out - which she experienced too many times during the Great Recession when I had to work in another state.
I hope you had yourself a merry little Christmas, whether you celebrated Christmas or not.
