Small miracles at Christmas

After a rocky approach to Christmas 2020, we were relieved to have the whole family together. 
Our eldest son Lachlan had been working as a sailmaker on the Central Coast (north of Sydney) in a new high tech sail loft working mainly on huge sails for the largest ocean racing yachts, when the business collapsed due to the effect of Covid19 cancelling sailing regattas world wide. He was eventually fortunate enough to find a position at a loft in Airlie Beach (North Queensland) and flew up there in early November, quarantining in Brisbane for 2 weeks along the way.
He was lucky enough to book a flight back to Sydney on Christmas Eve, intending to stay with us for a few days after Christmas and then take 3 days to drive his car packed with his gear back to Airlie before the loft reopened on 4 Jan.
THEN - the Northern Beaches Covid19 outbreak erupted, and Queensland slammed shut the  border with NSW for anyone from the Greater Sydney area, including the Blue Mountains. Lachlan had a chat with his new boss who was most understanding, and agreed that as long as there was a reasonable chance of getting back into Queensland by road before the end of January, it was okay for him to go. Family Christmas "on".
THEN - a few days ago the Queensland government announced that all flights between Sydney and regional Queensland airports are cancelled - from 25 December! Whew, "missed it by that much". Talk about "the last plane out of Sydney's almost gone" !
Anyway, he's here - we're now just sweating on the Northern Beaches outbreak being brought under control in reasonable time so that he can get back to Queensland with his car, and not have to fly back and quarantine in Brisbane for 14 days again.
Second son Callum was also at risk. He lives in Hornsby which looked like being included in the Northern Beaches bubble at one point, but fortunately wasn't, so he was able to drive up after work on Christmas Eve.
So - after several near misses, the Christmas miracles came to be, and the whole family are together again for Christmas once more.
