Two short planks
Long day. Much sorting, ironing, finding and packing this morning, while Mr B dealt with some urgent charidee work. The kids meanwhile made the most of the Wii which they will miss for the next two weeks. (We, on the other hand will not miss the shouting and the fighting and the sulking when it is turned off...)
Some white fluffy stuff starting falling from the sky at lunch time, which we decided was probably snow. Finally, in the icy cold, the car was stuffed to the gills and were on our way. Snow, hearty discussions of playlists and deafening indifference from the kids for our choice of music... but finally, after a sneaky short cut to avoid a mad peage queue, and we were in the mountains. Though we did find our chalet ok, a huge metal lump on the driveway has probably torn off our car's undercarriage - I guess they cater more for the 4x4 crew here.
The chalet is huge - with a bedroom for everyone, which should avoid most if the grumpiness from TallGirl at sharing a room with a small farting boy. Fair enough. And even I have a space to run away from the large farting boy if necessary (though as the fourth bedroom is where we've put all the feather filled pillows - the boys are both allergic - that might not be a popular move).
Anyway, we are happily ensconced with the kids in bed early (their choice) and us lounging with a box of wine, all the chocolate anyone could ask for and BBC1 on. Luxury indeed after our normal French TV diet.
Tomorrow sees an early start (so that Spiral double bill might be too much) with lift passes to buy and the ski school to find before 9am. Ouch. And they call it a holiday.
As you can see, TallGirl's skis are nearly as long as mine. But I do prefer a short nippy ski.
