Our boiler has been playing up, to the point of not working, so I had booked an engineer for today. Tricky in our circumstances, but heating is not an optional extra at the end of December.

He rang mid afternoon. Had we any heating. Well, yes, the boiler has started up again (intermittently), although the house is still cold,

That was the wrong answer, a big mistake.

OK, in that case he wasn’t coming, he would book us in for the earliest date, 15th January, three weeks time. Which is ridiculous.

I have subsequently attempted the British Gas complaints process. Having wasted 90 minutes, I now need to complain about the complaints process as well.

Not how we wanted to spend quite a bit of Christmas Eve. Thank goodness for the little Dyson heater we bought online a few months ago (this being the fourth time this problem has arisen, with no solution). We have warmth,

Mysteriously the boiler awoke from its sulk late evening and fired up. No idea what is going on.
