All that glitters...

Something gold-colored and out of place caught my eye on my morning walk, and it turned out on closer inspection to be this. I know people are drinking more under lockdown (I’ve seen it with my own eyes at the jam-packed liquor store, where one guy was actually glugging down the contents of his newly purchased bottle before he even drove out of the parking lot), but this is a whole new twist. What can be the story behind it? A despised present, perhaps — though not despised enough to warrant throwing away the bottle that came inside it? Or simply a wrapping that fell out of an overly full garbage can during trash collection? We will never know.
