St Werburg's Church - Warburton
It was that kind of a day.
Grey and overcast calls for Monochrome picture's.
St Werburg's old church is a real oasis, and I have visited this place since I was a boy.
As a lad, I used to go rabbeting in the hedge rows here with ferrets, (now all ripped out by the Co-Op for crop gain - so much for the "Stewardship of the land" pledge)
I have collected Conkers and Hazel nuts in and around the Church yard and even had "Tea" with the lord Lieutenant of Manchester in the old vicarage behind.
I even did some (Ahem) "Courting" with in the vicinity.
My parents are buried in the church yard here, But I get no sense of peace or closure from that. Though I visit often.
The church dates back to Saxon times, and is mentioned in the Domesday book, and although now redundant, is open to visitors on most Sunday's.
Pay a visit, and breathe in the history, you won't be disappointed!
