Impala - Aepyceros melampus

Oohhh, I couldn't decide what to blip tonight! Charmaine & Ronnie visited the Kruger National Park today and sent me FIVE GREAT photos!! Eisch!!

I had to choose between brilliant pictures of elephant, giraffe, a kudu with her baby, as well as a vulture, but believe you me, the one is better than the other!!

The 'Park' is so green this time of the year and this year was especially great, they had good rain early in the season. When it is so overgrown, it is more difficult to see animals, but it seems like Charmaine & Ronnie were very lucky, they saw quite a variety of animals. I think it is a good time to see the new 'offspring' as well. These two are so gorgeous! The impala (Aepyceros melampus) is a medium-sized African antelope. It's height ranges between 75 and 95 cm (30 and 37 in) and it weighs between 40-60 kg (88-130 lb). It is found in savannas and thick bushveld in Kenya, Tanzania, Swaziland, Mozambique, northern Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, southern Angola, northeastern South Africa, and Uganda. It can be found in numbers of up to 2,000,000 in Africa. (Thanks to Wikipedia)
