ornament

i saw this - and was immediately transported - back to my childhood - when we’d gather around - the christmas tree and mama would pull - out all the ornaments - many of which would be - ones that had belonged - to her mama who had brought - them with her from germany - at that time - they were ordinary and nothing special - but by the time i was born - they’d become rather - spectacular because we - recognized their value of being - hand-painted as well as - hand crafted whereas most ornaments - in our time were factory made - or made in bulk - not one at a time - with attention to small details

there always seemed to - be some kind of sweet story - associated with each one of - grandma’s ornaments - mama would pull out of the box - and oh boy - if one got broke - go hide - it took a while for forgiveness - to be given - those are special memories - and even though - this is not a handmade ornament - it struck a chord - which turned this day into...
