Still pumping water

PY and I did another self-guided history walk today, they're really interesting but also excellent when you are not allowed to meet people indoors. This time we did it with some friends around Streatham. It all started well but the torrential rain at the end became quite unpleasant and, after it had soaked our paper guide in a way that made it unreadable and the water made using the phone version difficult, we abandoned the last stop, although not before getting a hot chocolate from The Filling Station on Streatham Hill (highly recommended).

Before the rains arrived, however, we came across this wonderful building on Conyers Road. It's Streatham Pumping Station which was built in 1888 for the Southwark and Vauxhall Water Company (which can be traced back to the South London Waterworks Company from 1805.
