Moredun Wood

Determined to get out for a walk, we finally decided to walk the Burdiehouse Burn in Ellen's Glen, starting at the entrance to Moredun Wood. The walk passes through the trees parallel to Ellen's Glen Road and across the burn, there are several signposted routes to follow from there. Taking this, the north-western, path we continued as far as the Guardwell Glen road, with the large Morrison's store in view, turning south to take the other side of the burn, passing a fine exposure of the sedimentary rocks described in the link, as far as the old mill at Ellen's Glen Loan. From there we cut back towards the original route, and back to the the car.
